About Us

A century of
steadfast service

Since 1923, the Hazlehurst Fire Department has been the first line of defense for our community. What began as a small volunteer crew responding to the occasional building fire has grown into a professional, well-equipped department serving the entire city of Hazlehurst and surrounding Greene County areas.

Our team of dedicated career and volunteer firefighters trains continuously to handle every emergency — from structure fires and vehicle rescues to medical calls and natural disaster response. We operate from our station at 240 Jackson Street, always ready to respond.

01

Community First

Every decision we make starts with the safety and wellbeing of Hazlehurst residents.

02

Prevention Focus

We invest heavily in education and inspection because the best emergency is the one that never happens.

03

Transparency

We keep our community informed about fire safety, department operations, and how we can serve you.
